In 2011, I was an invited guest and the only Western participant at the Localization Service Industry Forum in Shenzhen. It may have been coincidence, but my hotel was situated in the middle of the elite academy of the Communist Party. So, nothing was written in English, and even the reception desk staff did not speak English.

Luckily, the organizer, Translation Association if China, provided me with four escort interpreters. WeiWei Wang was most helpful in helping me adjust my message and presentation to the Chinese audience. Today, she is professor at the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and remains a close friend.

Translation Association of China and Localization World named me one of the most trusted Westerners in Localization in China at the time.
