I eventually decided to have held the grudge for long enough, and as editor in chief for Chip Thema Macintosh dedicated an entire magazine to the new Apples. Macs were not that popular in Germany at the time – or actually around the world until Bill Gates rescued the company six years later in 1997.

Interesting. During my interview with Bill Gates in May 1990, he said that he would

  1. Love the opportunity to work with Steve Jobs again
  2. Not invest in Jobs’ then company NeXT because he did not believe it had a future

I was in the middle of all this from the very beginning as a bystander.

Today, I am totally applefied – MacBook, Apple TC, iPhone, iPad. May time to embrace Mircosoft again as the new cool?
